A dog younger than three months should be fed four times daily and a dog between the ages of 3 to 6 months should be fed thrice a day. For an adult Chihuahua, ¼ too ½ cup of dry high quality food should be fed twice a day. Also, don’t provide your dog access to food for all time of the day, otherwise he may become obese. Also, it is advised to feed your dog at the same place every day for maintaining consistency in feeding. Keep your dog isolated when he is eating because Chihuahua is a shy dog and may get distracted if someone else interrupts him.

  • For a puppy less than 1 year old and exercising daily, 50 calories (approximate) per pound of body weight are sufficient.

  • For a senior Chihuahua with age above 8 and less activity level, 30 calories per pound of body weight are sufficient.
